Oh hey, boo! It’s that time of the year again when cobwebs are acceptable and orange and black is color palate of the season. But most importantly, its the Halloween sweet tricks that are the biggest treat of them all!? We found this super easy DIY Meringue Bone Kit at Michael’s, and thought we would give these meringue bones somewhere you could really dig into… a chocolate cookie pudding dessert!
Here’s what you’ll need:
Chocolate Pudding + chocolate?cookies
Hand blender with Chopper (our fav)
Let’s get them bones! Follow the directions on the meringue kit box (it’s really just three easy steps) and first pour the pre-measured mixes (you will have to add warm water) into your mixer.
Whip mix until you see the meringue look smooth and glossy.? Now this is what we call a perfect peak!
Take the piping bag and drop the head to the bottom. Scoop the meringue into the bag until it’s 2/3 full. You want to leave a little room in the bag as the meringue will want to explode. Once you’re finished, cut the tip of the bag with scissors.
Grab your cookie sheet and parchment paper and place the bones template underneath the cookie sheet.? Be sure to remove before baking.
Let’s start piping! Add light pressure to the piping bag and start tracing the bones.
Keep going until you fill the tray. This kit can make up to about 50 bones!!!
PS- Not every single one will come out looking perfect- trust us! But just have fun with it!
*Bake at 400 for 40 mins
While the bones bake, grind up the cookies until they have a crumb consistency. This will be your “dirt” for the pudding cups.
Ahhhhh, perfect cookie dirt!
To start building your cups, take a spoonful (or two!) of pudding and then layering with a couple of spoonfuls of the cookie crumbs.
Continue layering until you have crumbs as the top layer.
Insert meringue bones directly into the pudding cups. You can also break in half and do two smaller ends coming out.
Have fun with gummy candies and add eye balls and fingers for a spookier look!
So delicious you’ll come back from the dead for seconds!
P.S.- Happy Halloween month! Boo!
